Job Title: Child Support Officer III

Job Responsibilities:
Child Support Officers (CSOs) at the **Members Only**’s (OAG) Child Support Division (CSD) are responsible for conducting detailed investigations to locate absent parents, assisting in establishing paternity, obtaining court orders for financial support and healthcare coverage for children, enforcing child support orders, responding to customer inquiries, and promoting the involvement of both parents in their children’s lives. They collaborate with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families. Specific duties include:

- Conducting in-office investigations to locate parties, verify employment, and determine assets.
- Preparing documents related to legal and administrative actions to establish or enforce child support orders.
- Negotiating lump sum payments from noncustodial parents who owe past due child/medical support.
- Negotiating out-of-court settlements and agreements with parties.
- Monitoring child support cases and referring delinquent cases for appropriate enforcement actions.
- Documenting all case actions using agency tools, including the Texas Child Support Enforcement System (TXCSES) and case/court documents.
- Reviewing and maintaining child support virtual files for accuracy in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repository.
- Reviewing cases to determine eligibility for closure.
- Attending court to assist legal staff as needed.
- Researching case information on TXCSES.
- Maintaining current knowledge of child support policies and procedures, Texas Family Law, federal regulations, and other states’ IV-D regulations.
- Assessing child support cases to determine appropriate case action.
- Explaining Child Support Program policies, procedures, and regulations to customers.
- Responding to customer inquiries and resolving complaints concerning case status.
- Assessing the validity of complaints against the IV-D program with impartiality.
- Serving as a Notary Public.
- Performing related work as assigned.
- Ensuring security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.
- Complying with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.

Education and Experience Information:
Minimum qualifications for the position include:

- Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, but experience in relevant fields may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience: One year of full-time experience in fields such as child support program, credit collections, investigations, legal assistant, legal secretary, customer service, or IV-A eligibility specialist.
- Knowledge and Skills: Investigative practices and techniques, interviewing and negotiating skills, effective use of personal computers for word-processing and data entry/retrieval, basic mathematical computations, handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, meeting deadlines, effective oral and written communication, sound judgment, effective decision making, and providing excellent customer service.
- Abilities: Receiving and responding positively to feedback, working cooperatively in a professional environment, arranging personal transportation for business-related travel, working more than 40 hours as needed, lifting and relocating 30 lbs., traveling up to 15%, and typing 35 words per minute (a typing test is required at the time of interview).

Preferred qualifications include:

- Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Knowledge: Investigative practices and techniques.
- Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish.

Salary Information:
The salary for the Child Support Officer III position is between $4, and $4, on a monthly basis, with the position classified under the Salary Admin Plan B, Grade 15.

Additional Information:
The position is full-time with standard hours of per week, and it is non-exempt from overtime. The job is located in Texas-Weatherford, and applications must be submitted electronically through CAPPS Recruit. A State of Texas application is required for consideration.
