Job Title: Paralegal 3

Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal 3 role involves utilizing advanced legal knowledge and management skills to support attorneys in various substantive legal areas such as contracts, regulatory matters, litigation, governance, and digital marketing. The position requires the paralegal to serve as the sole support for five attorneys on the Payments Legal team. Key responsibilities include:

- Contract and Agreement Support: Acting as the central intake point for legal requests from business partners, conducting preliminary reviews of contracts, non-standard client agreements, RFPs, NDAs, and other legal documents. The paralegal will propose initial edits based on general guidance from attorneys and effectively communicate with business partners to address outstanding issues or escalate them to attorneys.

- Legal File Management: Establishing and maintaining an organized system for storing and managing electronic legal files, ensuring easy access and retrieval of critical documents.

- Marketing and Client Materials Review: Assisting attorneys in reviewing marketing collateral, website content, and other client-facing materials to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

- Legal/Regulatory Tracking and Updates: Monitoring external legal and regulatory developments relevant to the banking industry and payments business. Assisting attorneys with preparing concise quarterly updates for business partners, highlighting key changes and potential impacts.

- General Legal Assistance: Providing a range of paralegal support to the Payments Team attorneys, including legal research, document preparation, and other administrative tasks as needed.

- Resolving complex issues, transactions, or projects requiring exceptional expertise in applying law, regulation, policies, and guidelines.

- Investigating facts of substantial volume and complexity, organizing, reviewing, and analyzing detailed information.

- Performing advanced legal research, applying results to facts, and developing and communicating legal conclusions.

- Designing, maintaining, training, and/or managing Legal Department workflow processes, reports, tools, and databases. Displaying leadership skills in executing team priorities and addressing issues.

- Interacting professionally with other departments, internal and external clients, outside counsel, vendors, and senior managers and executives.

- Displaying exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an American Bar Association approved curriculum or equivalent education; or successful completion of an American Bar Association approved paralegal training program; or certification by a State Bar approved paralegal certification program; or prior experience working as a paralegal or equivalent professional experience.
- Ten or more years of related legal or financial experience.
- Advanced understanding of legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures.
- Exceptional analytical thinking skills with the ability to identify and define issues, establish facts, analyze complex information, and develop substantiated conclusions with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to express complex facts and legal principles clearly and concisely.
- Advanced knowledge of legal research and writing with proficiency in online legal research.
- Creative problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex problems in a timely manner.
- Exceptional leadership and relationship management skills with the ability to influence others and achieve desired results.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
- Ability to manage numerous complex projects requiring interaction with multiple attorneys' departments and clients.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills; attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Legal Assistant designation or having passed the Paralegal Advanced Competency Examination.
