The Washington Post, a leading news source for over 140 years, is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel for privacy and compliance. This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure company compliance with all applicable privacy and data security laws and regulations
- Advise on complex legal issues related to product development and marketing
- Draft and negotiate contracts with customers, partners, and vendors
- Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to create and enforce data security policies and practices
- Advise on security incident response and breach notification requirements
- Conduct privacy due diligence reviews and impact assessments for potential partnerships
- Improve company's privacy infrastructure and controls through collaboration with information security and engineering teams
- Assist the Legal team with other matters as needed

Requirements:

- JD degree and at least 5 years of experience as a privacy and data security attorney
- Membership to a Bar (if permitted by law)
- Knowledge of global privacy and data security laws, regulations, and industry guidelines
- Experience working with Information Security teams and managing security incidents
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders
- Ability to handle sensitive information
- Experience in contract drafting and negotiations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently

Salary Range:

- 172, - 320, USD Annual
- Actual salary will be determined based on individual skills, experience, and qualifications
- Bonus or incentive program may be available, to be discussed during the interview process
