Job Title: Judicial Secretary I/II

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide support to appellate court justices and their judicial assistants, attorneys, and other research staff through various high production editorial, secretarial, and clerical tasks.
- Primarily serve attorneys assigned to assist justices with extraordinary writs.
- Substitute for judicial assistants during illnesses, vacations, and other absences.
- Assist with additional workload assignments and special projects as directed by the Presiding Justice or their judicial assistant.
- Perform typing/word processing and proofreading of opinions, court memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Conduct cite checking of opinions.
- Respond to inquiries from judges, attorneys, court clerks, and others.
- Track cases to ensure timely preparation.
- Distribute and/or file draft opinions.
- Perform general office management activities.
- Serve as a receptionist and respond to telephone inquiries.
- Support the Clerk’s Office when needed.

Education and Experience Information:
- For Judicial Secretary I: Equivalent to high school graduation and two years of general secretarial or legal processing experience OR one year as an Appellate Court Records Assistant, or two years as an Office Assistant II in the judicial branch.
- For Judicial Secretary II: Equivalent to graduation and three years of legal secretarial experience OR two years as a Judicial Secretary I in the judicial branch.
- Directly related college-level coursework may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Salary Information:
- Judicial Secretary I: Salary ranges from $4,736 to $5,758 per month, with the starting salary varying between $4,736 to $5,209.
- Judicial Secretary II: Salary ranges from $5,208 to $6,332 per month, with the starting salary varying between $5,208 to $5,758.
