Job Title: Senior Policy Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Policy Specialist will be part of the Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group at a law firm. This role involves working on a broad array of policy areas such as appropriations, congressional investigations, education, energy, foreign sovereigns, financial services, national defense, tax, technology and communications, trade, and transportation. The specialist will not be working in healthcare and life sciences policy areas. Responsibilities include:
- Engaging in Congressional and regulatory advocacy on various policy topics.
- Working with clients ranging from globally recognized brands, Fortune 500 companies, leading associations, educational institutions, foundations, units of local government, innovative start-ups, healthcare systems, foreign governments, and coalitions.
- Supporting the trade and technology lobbying team by handling issues related to trade and technology policy developments, tariffs, export controls, sanctions, free trade agreements, the USMCA review, trade enforcement efforts, antidumping and countervailing duty cases, privacy, Section 230, artificial intelligence, appropriations, the National Defense Authorization Act, and related agency actions.
Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in federal legislative and public policy roles. This experience could be from working in Congress, the Executive Branch, a trade association, interest group, or corporation in government relations.
- A four-year degree is required, along with excellent academic credentials and references.
- All Senior Policy Specialists must be registered lobbyists under the Lobbying Disclosure Act.
Salary Information:
- The anticipated base salary for the Senior Policy Specialist position ranges from $95,000 to $185,000. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses, and potentially the location from which the applicant will be performing the job.
- The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
Candidates are required to submit a cover letter, resume, transcripts, and a 3-5 page writing sample on an advocacy-based topic of their choosing.
