Job Title: Senior Pricing Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Pricing Analyst at the law firm plays a critical role in supporting the annual rate setting and rate negotiation processes while continually refining the pricing infrastructure. This position involves the development, iteration, and utilization of sophisticated pricing and profitability models to support lawyer pricing requests and other pricing projects and initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development of advanced pricing strategies aligned with the law firm’s financial objectives.
- Assisting in firmwide billing rate setting, including enhancing advanced analyses, and producing reporting and data visualization for partner leadership and C-suite stakeholders.
- Aiding in the annual client rate review and negotiation processes to ensure competitive positioning while maintaining firm profitability, which involves analyzing and recommending rates across seniority tiers, geographies, and practice areas.
- Producing sophisticated financial analyses using established and innovative approaches.
- Developing creative alternative fee arrangements that align incentives for clients and the law firm.
- Assisting with responding to financial components for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and pitches.
- Creating sensitivity analyses to help partners understand potential impacts of changes in profit drivers and improving partners’ financial literacy regarding the business of law.
- Contributing to the creation of matter budgets and project plans for critical client matters in collaboration with the Legal Project Management team.
- Assisting with the development of predictive pricing and budgeting tools.
- Leveraging the law firm’s BI platform to facilitate visualization of complex financial analysis.
- Providing thoughtful analysis and insights regarding firm financial performance, including identifying trends and recommending opportunities to maximize profitability or limit risk.
- Supporting the development of team processes, checklists, and other critical infrastructure to enhance and accelerate the maturity of the Pricing and Legal Project Management function.
- Drafting and editing highly professional, accurate, and actionable email correspondence.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a strong preference for a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. An MBA is considered a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant financial analysis experience is required, with previous pricing or legal industry experience being mandatory.
- Experience with SQL and VBA is strongly desired.
- Extensive experience in creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets, including the creative use of formulas, macros, pivot tables, and modeling, is required.
- Experience in using data visualization tools, such as Microsoft PowerBI, is desired.
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule according to workload demands is necessary.
- Exceptional attention to detail is required.
Salary Information:
The anticipated pay range for the Senior Pricing Analyst position varies by location, reflecting differences in cost of living and market conditions. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors, including the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay ranges are as follows:
- San Francisco and Silicon Valley: $116,875 - $158,125 per year
- Austin, Boston, Boulder, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Seattle, and Wilmington: $105,400 - $142,600 per year
- Salt Lake City and all other locations: $93,500 - $126,500 per year
