Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Patent Agent with a background in life sciences and bioinformatics. This full-time position will be based in either San Francisco, California or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will offer a competitive salary and benefits package. The Patent Agent will work closely with the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group and will have the opportunity to work on a variety of patent-related projects for domestic and international clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in life sciences, with a particular emphasis in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry. The candidate should also have at least 2 years of experience in the field or 1 year of experience as a registered patent agent. A Masters or PhD in bioinformatics is preferred, but other biological fields will be considered. The main responsibilities for this position include preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO, as well as performing prior art searches and analysis, patentability analysis, and IP due diligence. The Patent Agent will also be expected to engage in practice development activities to build and maintain client relationships, and to assist in patent clearance studies and other patent-related opinion projects. This role will report to an intellectual property partner, but will also have daily ,. The final salary offered will vary based on multiple factors, such as prior experience, relevant expertise, and market factors.
