Summary

Law Firm is looking for an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal to join its team. The Personal Injury Paralegal will work closely with attorneys providing support from presuit through trial. The role will involve daily interaction with existing and potential clients, ordering medical records, obtaining documents to support injury and/or liability positions, negotiating case settlements, preparing legal documents, conducting legal research and factual investigation, preparing discovery documents, e-filing court documents, preparing trial binders and exhibits, and performing administrative duties. Qualifications include an associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience, 2+ years of presuit or litigation experience, and completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program.

Job Responsibilities

- Daily interaction with existing and potential clients, via telephone and in person
- Order medical records from providers and communicate with clients and providers during the course of treatment
- Obtain documents necessary to support injury and/or liability positions
- Interact with insurance carriers and healthcare providers to secure records and account balances
- Negotiate case settlements with insurance carriers and negotiate a deduction of outstanding medical balances with providers
- Work directly with multiple coworkers involved in the management and support of case files
- Maintain organized case files
- Prepare comprehensive demands and assemble support for submission to carriers
- Interact with attorneys and present case synopsis when required
- Manage case files from intake to closing under the direction of an attorney
- Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda
- E-file all court documents in state and federal court
- Communications with clients, court, counsel, and others
- Conduct legal research and factual investigation
- Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses
- Draft and server summons
- Coordinate and summarize depositions
- Prepare trial binders and exhibits
- Drafting pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing them with the court
- Performing administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics)
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
- Aid attorney with interrogatories and other discovery requests
- Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
- Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties
- Witness preparation
- Assisting with case settlements
- Other tasks as requested by the attorney

Qualifications

- Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience (preferred)
- 2+ years of presuit or litigation experience (preferred)
- Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program (preferred)
- Experience in Personal Injury, WC, Premises, or other injury related practice areas (preferred)
- Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Extensive computer and database expertise; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and type no less than 35 wpm
