Summary: Law firm, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, is seeking a Patent Agent and/or Technical Specialist to join their Intellectual Property Practice Group in various locations including Orange County, California; Seattle, Washington; Washington, District of Columbia; Silicon Valley, California; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This position will be responsible for preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO and will report to an intellectual property partner. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in prosecuting or examining patent applications in the electrical arts. Responsibilities: - Preparing, filing and prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office - Conducting prior art searches and analysis - Performing patentability analysis and due diligence - Engaging in practice development activities to build and maintain client relationships - Preparing substantive client correspondence - Instructing local counsel for foreign filings and Office Actions - Assisting in patent clearance studies and other patent-related opinion projects - Applying advanced concepts in any life sciences field, with particular emphasis and/or expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry - Conducting scientific or technical document analysis to assess patentability, novelty, and inventiveness - Converting provisional applications into utility applications - Converting foreign filed applications into . applications - Converting . applications into foreign applications Requirements: - Bachelor's degree (or graduate degree) preferably in electrical engineering, but other degrees in related fields will be considered - Minimum 2 years of experience in prosecuting or examining patent applications in the electrical arts, with experience in display and battery technology and optics preferred - Registered to practice before the USPTO or eligible to sit for the patent agent exam - Excellent writing and research abilities, along with strong communication and organizational skills Salary Information: - Orange County, CA: $104, - $167, - Seattle, WA: $104, - $167, COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP requires all personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and proof of vaccination is required.
