MTA New York City Transit is an Equal Opportunity Employer Job Summary Company is looking for a Director of Labor Relations (Field Operations) to join its Labor Relations team. This role is responsible for providing labor relations advice and guidance to multiple General Managers and/or Division Chiefs. The Director will ensure that the collective bargaining agreements are applied correctly and that the progressive discipline policy is properly implemented. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and diplomatic skills and a strong knowledge of public sector labor law. Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Monitor and ensure the correct application of collective bargaining agreements • Represent Divisions at pre-arbitration hearings and actively participate in the preparation of cases for arbitration • Advise all levels of management within the Division on employee availability issues, the drafting of disciplinary charges and the proper responses to grievances • Provide labor relations advice and guidance to multiple General Managers and/or Division Chiefs • Ensure that the progressive discipline policy is properly implemented Compensation and Benefits: • Salary Range: $90,396 - $118,645 • Hay Points: 677 • Pension Plans • Medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage • Flexible Spending Accounts • Paid vacation, holidays and leave programs • New York’s 529 College Saving Plan • Municipal Credit Union Education and Experience: • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with a major in Labor Relations or a satisfactory equivalent • Eight (8) years relevant experience of which four (4) years must be in a managerial/supervisory capacity • A Juris Doctorate (.) may substitute for three (3) years of labor relations and general experience Desired Skills: • Strong oral and written communication and diplomatic skills • Ability to analyze complex problems and come to direct solutions through independent decision making • Proficiency in drafting contractual language, grievance decisions & internal/external correspondences • Strong knowledge of public sector labor law Selection Method: Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
