We are seeking a Patent Agent II to join our team and assist with every aspect of patent research, application preparation, and prosecution activities. This is a great opportunity for someone with 4-7 years of experience to take on a more independent role with direct client interaction and minimal attorney oversight. Responsibilities: - Draft, prepare, and submit patent applications with limited attorney supervision - Review and respond to communications from the USPTO and foreign patent offices - Provide guidance and training to IP support professionals - Support patent enforcement, licensing, and business transactions - Assist attorneys with research and analysis - Conduct patent and literature searches - Manage deadlines and comply with practice group procedures - Mentor junior patent agents and technical specialists - Develop and manage patent portfolios - Interact with clients throughout the patent process Qualifications: - 4-7 years of patent agent experience - Passed Patent Bar Exam and registered to practice before the USPTO - Advanced scientific degree or relevant technical experience - Strong communication and client service skills - Strategic thinking and ability to interpret client needs - Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines - Sound scientific and technical knowledge - Familiarity with patent litigation - Understanding of patent law and procedures - Ability to conduct and evaluate complex patent searches - Experience drafting patent applications and responses to official actions - Ability to manage patent portfolios with minimal attorney oversight Salary and Benefits: In addition to a standard benefits package, this role offers a competitive salary based on location and factors such as work performance, experience, and education. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is as follows: - Chicago, IL: $130,769 to $199,529 - Washington, DC: $136,454 to $208,204 - Boston, MA: $136,454 to $208,204 - Los Angeles, CA: $136,454 to $208,204 - San Francisco, CA: $142,140 to $216,879 Please note that these salary ranges are Nixon Peabody's good faith estimates at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Additionally, this role is eligible for additional contingent compensation based on various factors.
