Law Firm Seeking Patent Agents with Electrical Engineering or Biotechnology Backgrounds

Job Title: Patent Agent

Experience: 3+ years of professional experience

Salary: Competitive

Location: Miami

Department: Intellectual Property Services

Armstrong Teasdale LLP, a leading law firm, is currently looking for experienced Patent Agents to join its Intellectual Property Services group. This is a great opportunity for individuals with backgrounds in electrical engineering or biotechnology who have prior experience in patent law.

The Patent Agents will work closely with inventors on newly created products, assist in identifying patentable inventions, and research current patented technologies to best assist clients in patentable work. They will also draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team, track the patent application process, and complete ability searches regularly. Other responsibilities include solving client challenges, responding to office actions, and consistently meeting billable hour requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work hand-in-hand with inventors on newly created products
- Assist in the identification of patentable inventions
- Research current patented technologies to best assist clients in patentable work
- Draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team
- Track the patent application process from initial application to granted patent to ensure the team remains on track
- Complete ability searches regularly
- Solve client challenges and respond to client needs
- Respond to office actions and correspond with the . Patent and Trademark Office
- Consistently meet billable hour requirements

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering
- Master’s Degree or PhD preferred
- USPTO Registration required
- 3+ years of professional experience
