Job Summary:

As an Associate General Counsel for Operations and Experience at UnitedHealthcare, you will play a critical role in simplifying the healthcare experience, creating healthier communities, and removing barriers to quality care. Your work will impact the lives of millions of people for the better, as you help build the healthcare system of tomorrow. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the . and will involve advising on complex legal and operational issues across a variety of topics, including digital innovation, website and mobile applications, accessibility requirements, artificial intelligence, email, texting, and social media. You will also advise on risk management, consumer inquiries, and service issues, while evaluating appropriate legal courses of action to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on the implementation of federal and/or state legal and regulatory requirements impacting the health care industry, particularly in the topics specified above.
• Identify privacy, legal, and/or regulatory considerations for further analysis.
• Provide guidance on risk management, consumer inquiries, and service issues.
• Evaluate appropriate legal courses of action to meet business objectives and advise senior legal and business leaders.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate degree
• Current and active license to practice law in at least one . jurisdiction
• 6+ years of professional legal experience in a law firm or corporate environment
• 3+ years of experience in the health plan industry
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in technology areas such as consumer experience, consumer protection laws, privacy, email, electronic communications, accessibility, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence.
• Background in health insurance and/or managed care industry
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory matters impacting the health care industry, particularly in the areas specified above.
• Familiarity with state and/or federal privacy issues/matters impacting the health care industry.
• Ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal courses of action to meet business unit needs.
• Proven success in collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment, with excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually, based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group also offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contribution (subject to eligibility requirements).
