Law Firm Seeking Technical Specialist / Patent Agent in Life Sciences

Full-Time Position Available in Various Locations: Philadelphia, PA / Chicago, IL / Boston, MA / Washington, DC / San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

- Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO
- Conduct prior art searches and analysis
- Perform patentability analysis and IP due diligence
- Engage in practice development activities to build and maintain client relationships
- Prepare substantive client correspondence
- Instruct local counsel for foreign filings and office actions
- Assist in patent clearance studies and other patent-related opinion projects
- Apply advanced concepts in any life sciences field, with expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry
- Study and analyze scientific or technical documents for patentability, novelty, and inventiveness
- Convert provisional applications into utility applications
- Convert foreign filed applications into US applications
- Convert US applications into foreign applications

Requirements:

- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a biological field with excellent academic credentials
- At least one year of experience as a practicing patent agent in life sciences or two years of professional experience in life sciences
- Registered to practice before the USPTO
- Strong writing and research abilities
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication
- Strong organizational skills

Salary Information:

- Salary range for positions in San Francisco, CA: $113,580 - $181,
- Base salary will be determined during the interview process and may vary based on experience, expertise, and market factors
- Total compensation package includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and participation in company-sponsored benefits such as 401(k), medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans
- Eligible employees may also utilize employee assistance programs and commuter benefits, and receive paid holidays, personal days, vacation time, and sick leave
