Law firm Nixon Peabody is seeking a Patent Technical Specialist to join their team in multiple offices across the country, including Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; and Washington, DC. This is a staff position with a hybrid work schedule available.

As a Patent Technical Specialist, you will have the opportunity to assist with patent research, application preparation and submission, and prosecution activities. You will also have the chance to develop and recommend patent strategies, utilizing your strong scientific background. This role will involve working closely with attorneys, staff, and other departments to ensure successful outcomes for clients.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for this role, as well as the ability to maintain working relationships and manage multiple responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct literature and patent searching
- Review file histories of patents
- Analyze literature and patent databases to assess patentability
- Assist with prosecution of patent applications
- Prepare patent applications under attorney supervision
- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

- 0-3 years of patent experience
- Advanced scientific degree or Bachelor's Degree with relevant experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain working relationships
- Sound judgement and inquiring disposition
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Sound scientific and technical knowledge

Salary Information (Annual):

- Chicago, IL: $98,949 to $150,943
- Washington, DC: $103,252 to $157,505
- Boston, MA: $103,252 to $157,505
- Los Angeles, CA: $103,252 to $157,505
- San Francisco, CA: $107,554 to $164,068

*Additional contingent compensation may be available based on factors such as work performance, location, experience, education, and qualifications. The salary range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting and is subject to change.
