Role Overview:
- Seeking a Director, Managing Counsel to join the Legal team.
- Located in Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, Florida (hybrid role).
- Will serve as the lead day-to-day legal advisor for BNY Mellon Investment Management’s distribution activities in North America.
- Responsible for managing another attorney and paralegal.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day legal support for the BNY Mellon Investment Management North American Distribution business.
- Support for all distribution and placement arrangements entered into with affiliates and third party intermediaries in the United States and Canada.
- Work with Compliance in drafting, updating and applying policies and procedures.
- Support for key initiatives and coordinating with global colleagues.
- Advise on legal and regulatory matters and related developments concerning BNY Mellon Securities Corporation.
- Provide advice and assist in implementation of new product/service initiatives.

Qualifications:

- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Critical analytical skills and ability to bring a holistic perspective to businesses.
- Deep knowledge of Investment Advisers Act of 1940, Investment Company Act of 1940, Securities Act of 1933 and FINRA rules & guidance.
- Experience in managing individuals and leading legal coverage for a function.
- Ability to deal with a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build relationships with a variety of different internal clients.
- Pragmatic and able to identify and manage legal risks.
- Clear communicator and team player.
- Enthusiastic and desire to develop career in one of the world’s largest investment management businesses.
