Cooley is seeking a Business Intake & Conflicts Specialist (Laterals) to join the Business Intake & Conflicts team. This position is responsible for ensuring the Firm's compliance with ethical obligations, risk management policies and procedures, and timely onboarding of new business. The specialist will work closely with various departments and teams, including the Associate Director of Conflicts, to assist with case law research, policy and procedure drafting, and lateral candidate submissions. The role also includes cross-training and providing support in areas of need within the department. Competitive compensation and benefits package offered. Experience Information: 3+ years of direct applicable experience in a BIC department, legal secretary, paralegal, or executive assistant role. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, and experience in a law firm or professional services environment. Position Summary: - Essential role in ensuring compliance with ethical obligations and risk management policies. - Timely onboarding of new business, including clients, matters, timekeepers, and employees. Position Responsibilities: - Reviewing incoming conflict check submission forms for lateral candidates. - Updating lateral spreadsheets and maintaining cross-reference database. - Communicating with recruiting, HR, and attorneys regarding lateral intake. - Monitoring BIC inbox and responding to inquiries about new business requests. - Processing and quality control of intake review queue. - Providing training to new BIC hires and managing system clean-up projects. - Conducting research projects on conflicts of interest and corporate affiliations. Skills and Experience Required: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, and other firm applications. - Availability for overtime work. - 3+ years of direct applicable experience. - Strong computer skills. Skills and Experience Preferred: - Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate. - Experience in a law firm or professional services environment. Competencies: - Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. - Punctual and reliable.
