Legal Assistant for Litigation Practice Group at Top Law Firm in Boston

Position Summary:

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide support to our attorneys by managing case information, preparing legal documents, and performing administrative tasks. This is a full-time position with office hours from 8:30AM – 5PM, although schedules may vary. During busy times, the job may require more than 40 hours per week, with overtime pay provided. The selected individual will have a minimum of 5 years of prior civil litigation law firm experience, with labor and employment experience preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file documents in state and federal court, including discovery requests and responses, letters, pleadings, motions, and more
• Format and proofread documents to ensure compliance with court rules and grammatical standards
• Maintain calendar and deadline reminder systems and ensure attorneys are aware of upcoming deadlines
• Open new files and maintain client and general files, including periodic review for possible electronic storage
• Make client appointments and travel arrangements for attorneys upon request
• Enter attorney time for billing purposes on a daily basis
• Work in a fast-paced team environment to cover daily tasks such as typing, filing, photocopying, and telephone coverage
• Respond to messages and requests in a timely manner to ensure high level of cooperation and teamwork

Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of prior civil litigation law firm experience, with labor and employment experience a plus
• Ability to transcribe legal documents at a minimum of 70 wpm
• Strong proofreading and editing skills, with attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as knowledge of court systems and procedures, including e-filing
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks under time constraints with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
