There is a growing need for real estate attorneys and paralegals. The legal component of real estate involves creating and modifying real estate transactions and providing legal counsel when there are problems with these transactions. Transactional real estate attorneys prepare and review documents pertaining to real estate dealings and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions. Some attorneys and paralegals may focus on physical purchases whether they are residential or commercial, and other legal representatives focus on prosecuting disclosure and mortgage fraud.

Also, the Minneapolis St. Paul metropolis is home to many large employers and Fortune 500 businesses. These corporations include US BanCorp, Xcel Energy, Target, Ameriprise Financial, Macy's and ING Group.

The abundance of businesses provides a very good situation for attorneys who prefer to concentrate on labor laws. A labor law attorney, sometimes known as an employment attorney, would be responsible for conducting research, providing assistance in interviewing and hiring employees, outlining job specifications, creating employee contacts, assisting in setting wages, benefits and promotions and termination procedures.

If you are interested in a job in the courts, there are opportunities here as well. A court reporter attends legal proceedings and creates transcriptions of these events verbatim. Court reporters generally work for a government entity such as a legislator or court. While the nature of this work requires a court reporter to be onsite, some have the opportunity to work remotely in a home office. To qualify as a court reporter, you will likely need to complete a certificate course offered by a community or traditional college. Many states will also require a court reporter to become licensed to work within that state.

Another option is as a litigation docket manager maintains the dockets for a legal body. A litigation docket is a list of cases associated with a particular court. A docket manager updates calendars associated with the docket and maintains associated docket files and records. A degree is usually required for this position.
