Job Title: Entry-Level Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
The Entry-Level Attorney at the Office of the Child’s Representative (OCR) is tasked with providing legal representation for children and youth involved in delinquency and dependency & neglect (D&N) cases. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and conducting all aspects of assigned cases at the trial court level.
- Engaging in multidisciplinary legal representation to protect the interests and advance the rights of individual children.
- Influencing systemic change through coordinated and strategic advocacy.
- Participating in special projects or duties outside the primary scope of the position, which may require travel to events outside of the Front Range, including meetings, trainings, and conferences at the state and national levels.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Entry-Level Attorney position must meet the following educational and professional qualifications:
- Possess a Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Be licensed to practice law in Colorado or another state and be eligible for a transfer of license to Colorado.
- Be a member in good standing of the Colorado State Bar or other state equivalent.
- Have no history of disciplinary action by any state bar licensing authority.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Exhibit the ability to make good decisions, maintain confidentiality, establish effective working relationships, and thoroughly document work.
- Show a strong dedication to representing children and youth.
- Possess solid computer skills, which are essential for the role.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Entry-Level Attorney position is $6,828 - $8,195 per month. Newly hired employees typically begin their employment towards the beginning of the pay range, based on experience and other factors.
Additional Information:
The Entry-Level Attorney position is full-time (40 hours per week) and is eligible for benefits and participation in the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). The role involves a hybrid work environment, combining in-office duties with remote work from home.
