As a patent litigation counsel, you will work closely with clients to remove obstacles and protect their intellectual property assets. Salary and Compensation Information:
- Anticipated annual salary ranges for this position, depending on location:
- Chicago, IL: $350,000
- Los Angeles, CA: $350,000
- San Francisco, CA: $350,000
- Washington, DC: $350,000
- New York City, NY: $350,000
- Additional contingent compensation may be available based on factors such as work performance, geographic location, experience, education, and qualifications.
- Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of annual salaries for this position is based on the current market and may be subject to change.
Job Requirements:
- At least ten years of patent litigation experience, including:
- Drafting and responding to pleadings
- Preparing infringement and invalidity claim charts
- Markman and claim construction proceedings
- Patent-specific fact and expert discovery
- Inter partes reviews
- Overall litigation strategy
- Patent trial experience is a plus.
- USPTO admission and an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or substantial experience in these or similar disciplines, are highly desired.
- Responsibilities will include:
- Drafting pleadings, motions, and correspondence for state and federal court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings
- Responding to complex discovery requests
- Negotiating and communicating with opposing counsel
- Preparing for and conducting depositions
- Preparing for trial and executing trial, including preparing exhibit lists, evidentiary objections, motions in limine, and witness preparation and examination
- Preparing Federal Circuit appeal briefs
- Supervising and training junior associates.
- Strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing excellent client services are required.
