- Eligibility: enrolled in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school, with potential for success in law school and practice of law
- DLLP Diversity Fellows may not participate in a similar scholarship program or split their summer with another law firm
- Application requirements: resume, law school transcript, undergraduate transcript, and brief personal statement (500 words or less) describing interest in DLLP and unique background and skillset as a trial lawyer

Requirements for Summer Associate Position
- Attend Loyola Patent Law Interview Program in Chicago or apply through on-campus recruiting at leading national law schools
- Technical background preferred (degree in engineering or sciences, or significant technical work experience)
- Open to 1Ls and 3Ls (encouraged to apply after December 1 for 1Ls)
- Call-back interview consists of four or more 30-minute interviews at New York office
- Reimbursement for ordinary costs related to call-back interviews
- Opportunity to meet with attorneys and request to speak or meet with specific attorneys
- Offer can be held for up to two years for qualifying clerkships
- No billable hour requirement
- Program typically spans ten to twelve weeks from mid-May to early August
- Split summers considered on a case-by-case basis (minimum of six weeks at DLLP)
- Dress code is generally casual but business attire recommended for first few days
- Opportunity for work-related travel
- Given real, substantive work similar to first-year associates
- Evaluation and feedback process throughout summer
- Annual trial advocacy training with live witnesses, judge, and jury
- Opportunity to interact with associates and partners at informal lunches and dinners and large events highlighting New York City
- Previous summer classes have included 5-8 second-year students and 2-3 first-year summer associates
- 100% of 2L summer associates given offers to return as full-time associates upon graduation
- 100% of 1L summer associates invited back for 2L summer.
