Advice to law firm management:
This firm can be an excellent fit for those who are committed to it. The client list is prestigious and the firm's court victories are impressive. But there is a lot of competition, so know that in advance.
Pros:
There is a lot to learn here, and you will get experience in many areas of the law. There are also a lot of important contacts you can make here, and that may set you up to make or break your career. As many lawyers will tell you, establishing contacts is vital to the business.
Cons:
The environment may not be for everyone. There is a cutthroat ethos among attorneys and there is a strong desire to get ahead. If you don't want to compete directly with your colleagues on a daily basis, this may not be the opportunity for you. You may want to keep looking.

Advice to law firm management:
Listen to and act upon peoples' complaints. Many people often got frustrated that two different people who put in vastly different amounts of effort often received the same outcomes. This just causes more turnover and instability.
Pros:
They valued work-life balance and offered pleasant minor benefits around the office - major benefits like health insurance, etc. were also somewhat above average.
Cons:
Management seemed out of touch - people often got away with not pulling their weight. It seemed your complaints were often ignored, or that you were not treated as an individual. Pay was not great, and, as a result, loafing or frustration were fairly common, and turnover could be high.

Our ten-week summer program is designed to provide law students with a complete and realistic view of our practice areas, as well as the culture of our firm. Summer associates work within the practice groups comprising the six departments of the firm-Defense Litigation, Business Transactions I and II, Business Litigation, Specialty Litigation & Insurance Coverage, and Lawyers for Professionals. This allows the summer associates to fully understand the breadth of the firm's expertise, the opportunities available at the firm and our expectations of new associates. Although the firm views the summer program as a working experience, it is our goal to make a summer position with the firm both intellectually and personally rewarding.
