Job Title: Area Assistant Vice President, Compliance Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide producers, account managers, and clients with timely and accurate analyses of current legislative initiatives and regulations.
- Offer clients well-researched recommendations to guide them in taking appropriate actions to comply with changes in the legislative or regulatory environment.
- Interpret source materials and provide guidance and advice to corporate and branch office staff.
- Assist producers and account managers in developing action steps to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct internal employee training on selected legislative and regulatory topics.
- Provide prototype information summaries, compliance checklists, model letters, and other consulting tools to support consultants and account managers.
- Support the compliance help desk by answering questions regarding compliance issues.
- Assist consultants in helping clients understand changes to benefit laws, implications to their benefit plans, and necessary compliance steps.
- Conduct compliance reviews for clients and create a compliance gap analysis that outlines compliance considerations and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Work with internal teams to address and resolve complex compliance issues for clients, including Form 5500 filing errors, ACA reporting requirements, and mergers and acquisitions support.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tools and resources to facilitate compliance with health and welfare plan legal obligations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for compliance projects for both external and internal purposes.
- Assist consultants in developing compliance presentations.
- Educate and provide support to internal team members and clients to identify and understand benefits compliance issues.
- Assist regional lead in developing practical solutions for clients to comply with federal and state regulations impacting health and welfare plans.
- Support Sales and Consulting team with business development calls and meetings as needed.
- Stay informed about federal and state laws applying to health and welfare plans, such as ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, the Internal Revenue Code, and state benefit mandates.
- Some travel required.
Education and Experience Information:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5-7 years of related professional experience
- Knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, cafeteria plans, nondiscrimination rules, HIPAA, and other federal, legal, and regulatory issues for Health and Welfare consultants
Preferred Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate and current license to practice law preferred
Salary Information:
- Salary range: $120,000 - $234,000
