A respected law firm is seeking a seasoned Private Client Attorney with at least 7 years of experience to join its growing estate and wealth planning practice. This role centers on advising high-net-worth individuals, family-owned enterprises, and multi-generational families on sophisticated estate planning, tax strategy, and business succession. The position provides an opportunity to work closely with a collaborative legal team and guide clients through strategic, long-term wealth preservation.

Duties

  • Advise clients on complex estate planning and wealth transfer strategies

  • Draft and review estate documents, trust instruments, operating agreements, and shareholder agreements

  • Counsel clients on insurance planning, trust funding, and corporate restructuring

  • Manage all aspects of estate and trust administration, including probate proceedings

  • Provide post-mortem tax planning and prepare estate tax returns

  • Collaborate with internal legal and tax professionals to tailor planning solutions

  • Work with high-net-worth families and business owners to develop multi-generational legacy strategies

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in estate planning, wealth transfer, and private client advisory

  • Demonstrated experience in federal tax law as it relates to trusts, estates, and gifts

  • Prior work with high-net-worth clients or family offices preferred

  • Ability to manage complex client needs while providing attentive, strategic counsel

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Illinois

  • . in Taxation is preferred but not required
