A leading law firm is seeking a Real Estate Finance Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join its Chicago office. The successful candidate will support a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions, with a strong emphasis on lender-side finance work. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment, directly interfacing with clients and senior attorneys on sophisticated real estate finance deals.

Duties

  • Represent lenders and investors in permanent, construction, and mezzanine loan transactions

  • Work on deals involving commercial, healthcare, multifamily, office, retail, auto, warehouse, and industrial properties

  • Close acquisitions and dispositions of real estate assets

  • Negotiate and draft commercial leases (retail, office, warehouse, industrial)

  • Collaborate with firm shareholders on client matters and business development

  • Manage complex real estate finance matters independently and in team settings

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant real estate finance experience, particularly on the lender/investor side

  • Experience in loan transactions (permanent, construction, mezzanine), acquisitions/dispositions, and lease negotiations

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and intellectually challenging environment

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar or in active pursuit of admission

  • Strong attention to detail and legal drafting skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic record required

Certifications

  • Admission in Illinois or eligibility to become admitted

Skills

  • Proficient in negotiating loan documents and commercial leases

  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Client-focused with high professional standards
