Job Title: Agency Attorney (Entry Level)
Job Responsibilities:
- Receives legal training in Agency specialty legal work.
- Assists in preparing legal arguments and documents, such as memoranda, motions, pleadings, briefs, and subpoenas, in connection with Agency proceedings before various courts.
- Participates in pre-trial preparation by reviewing investigative reports, interviewing prospective witnesses, conferring with other attorneys, and consulting with specialists.
- Conducts research on legal cases, opinions, and decisions, and abstracts salient points and references.
- Analyzes legal documents and assists in preparing and reviewing Agency contracts.
- Reviews legal documents in connection with the acquisition of property.
- Aids in the review and interpretation of existing laws, rules, and regulations, and in the preparation of legislative proposals applicable to the Agency.
Education and Experience Information:
- Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections or ) or admission to the New York State Bar is required.
- Proof of graduation from an accredited law school or admission to the New York State Bar must be shown prior to hire.

- Outstanding written and verbal skills.
- Ability to deliver clear, practical, and pragmatic advice, including on a time-sensitive basis.
- Ability to manage a diverse, complex, and at times unpredictable workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues.
Salary Information:
- Salary range: $70, – $85,
Additional Information:
- New York City residency is not required for this position. However, residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies, candidates should discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
