**Job Title: Associate General Counsel, Head of Product and Coverage**
**Job Responsibilities:**
The Associate General Counsel, Head of Product and Coverage at the company is tasked with a variety of high-level responsibilities that focus on the legal aspects of product development and coverage in the insurance and reinsurance sectors. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the product and coverage team to develop and execute product strategies that align with the company’s vision and goals.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating re/insurance policies and contracts.
- Identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with re/insurance product features and functionalities.
- Serving as the lead liaison with regulators in managing product filing processes as needed.
- Supporting the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring compliance with business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, finance, claims, and pricing, to ensure seamless product development, implementation, and support.
- Providing expert legal advice to underwriting on policy wordings, development, and enhancements, including regulatory requirements, claims and coverage impact, and filing strategy.
- Guiding and supporting the feedback loop of lessons learned to implement processes for wordings enhancement and remediation needs.
- Providing expert legal advice to claim professionals on coverage questions and preparing coverage position letters on high complexity/exposure claims.
- Managing and overseeing coverage litigation against the company, as well as allegations of bad faith and ECO/XPL exposure.
- Assisting in preparing witnesses, discovery, selecting and managing panel counsel, and enhancing coverage litigation management processes.
- Staying updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends to provide accurate and current advice.
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
**Education and Experience Information:**
Candidates for the Associate General Counsel, Head of Product and Coverage position are expected to have:
- A Bachelor’s degree (.) or equivalent, with a Master’s degree (.) or equivalent or CFA preferred.
- At least 15 years of related experience and/or training, including prior experience managing insurance portfolios.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NAIC/RBC and BMA/BSCR capital regimes.
- CFA Designation is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of investment practices, procedures, and principles, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex concepts and apply them in innovative ways.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to pragmatically solve complex problems.
- Strong negotiating skills and the ability to resolve conflicts to achieve objectives.
- Self-motivation and proactivity with a focus on continuous professional development.
- Strong leadership skills, including the desire and aptitude to build direct reports’ skills and team culture.
- The ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- The ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- The ability to work cooperatively and successfully with co-employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
- The position involves managing large quantities of information and assessing those relevant to the investment thesis, making significant decisions without complete information.
- Substantial intellectual reasoning, problem-solving capacity, and disciplined strategy execution are essential for this position.
**Salary Information:**
The estimated salary range for the Associate General Counsel, Head of Product and Coverage position is $250,000 to $300,000 per year. This range is a good-faith assessment of the salary for this position only. The actual salary within this range will be determined by considering the candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.
