Legal Assistant (St. Louis, Missouri) - Experienced Litigation Legal Assistant (Secretary) Needed at National Labor and Employment Law Firm
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to a team of attorneys involved in employment-related litigation before administrative agencies and state and federal courts
- Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with clients and court clerks, and responding to emails
- Assist attorneys in all phases of the litigation discovery process, including preparing for hearings, arbitrations, and trials
- Process monthly expense reports and accurately enter, review, and revise timekeeper time entries
- Accurately format and proofread legal documents for grammatical, typographical, or spelling errors and completeness prior to distribution or filing
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic files
- Coordinate meeting arrangements for arbitrations, depositions, mediations, and other legal proceedings
- Oversee the conflict check and client intake process for new matters
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively, juggling multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor
Qualifications:
- Typing speed of at least 65 WPM
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum four years of DEFENSE litigation experience
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office, time entry and e-Filing, and electronic document management systems preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong writing and grammar abilities
