Job Title: Sr. Paralegal / Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct pre-trial and trial support for litigated matters of varied complexity.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, filing, and serving pleadings, motions, including complex motions such as motions in limine and dispositive motions, discovery, and subpoenas.
- Review and draft documents for document production requests; analyze and draft responses to incoming discovery.
- Review and summarize medical records; conduct legal research and writing assignments, which may include preparing medical chronologies and drafting deposition summaries for fact and expert witnesses.
- Proactively assist attorneys in moving case files to trial/resolution; may attend case-related events and provide trial support.
- Coordinate workflow, maintain filing and follow-up systems, and support overall litigation strategy.
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings; communicate with clients and expert witnesses.
- Provide administrative support to trial teams, including retrieving information from document management systems and assembling exhibits, binders, and appendices for depositions, court filings, hearings, and trials.
- Maintain working knowledge of court procedures and local rules; review court dockets and retrieve case information.
- Understand and maintain confidentiality regarding the attorney-client privilege/relationship, trial strategies, ethics rules, and identities of clients and claims’ customers.
- Perform legal assistant and other administrative duties as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education: Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or related areas preferred.
- License/Certification/Designation: Certification in paralegal studies strongly preferred; demonstrated insurance litigation-related paralegal experience is also acceptable.
- Experience: Typically requires five years of experience in a paralegal capacity dealing with insurance-related litigation.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of assigned case files and understanding of case information relevancy.
- General knowledge of law office operations, practices, and procedures.
- Experience with filing and scheduling procedures of various courts, use of federal and state e-filing, and e-Court systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management databases, such as Legal Files, is preferred.
- Understanding of personal and commercial lines insurance policies is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with attorneys, paralegals, court personnel, clients, and claims staff.
- Strong research and organizational skills; detail-oriented and technologically savvy.
- Ability to adapt to new systems and processes, prioritize tasks, and multitask.
- Exercises independent initiative and judgment in daily tasks.
- Compliance with all corporate and department policies and procedures, as well as ethical rules of the state where the position is located.
Salary Information:
- Overtime Eligibility: Eligible (Non-Exempt).

- Working Conditions: Professional law office environment with potential for a hybrid work schedule.
- Occasional travel and overtime, subject to approval.
