Job Title: Internship Program, Fall - Florida Attorney General's Internship Program

Job Responsibilities:
The internship program within the Office of the Attorney General offers law students an opportunity to gain practical experience in various legal fields, contributing towards the completion of their degree. Interns are expected to engage in meaningful work across different divisions, which include but are not limited to:

- Antitrust Division: Enforce state and federal antitrust laws through civil investigations and litigation, review proposed mergers and acquisitions, and provide antitrust counsel for the State and its agencies.

- Consumer Protection Division: Enforce state and federal consumer protection laws, investigate business practices, litigate in courts, and partner with other state attorneys general and agencies for joint enforcement efforts.

- Criminal and Capital Appeals Division: Represent and defend State prosecutions in criminal appeals across different courts, including handling death penalty litigation.

- Civil Litigation Division: Represent the State, its agencies, and employees in various civil lawsuits, including class actions and administrative cases.

- Complex Litigation Bureau: Handle high-impact cases involving constitutional challenges and complex litigation management.

- Civil Legal Services Division: Provide legal services required by State Agencies, including representation in administrative hearings and courts.

- Child Support Enforcement Bureau: Represent the Department of Revenue in child support cases and provide appellate representation.

- Revenue Litigation Bureau: Represent the Department of Revenue in tax-related litigation and property tax matters.

- Ethics Bureau: Prosecute potential violations of the Florida Code of Ethics and serve as prosecutors for the Ethics Commission.

- Lemon Law Arbitration Division: Enforce compliance with Florida's motor vehicle Lemon Law and resolve disputes between consumers and manufacturers.

- Medicaid Fraud Control Unit: Investigate and prosecute fraud involving Medicaid providers and patient abuse in Medicaid-funded facilities.

- Statewide Prosecution: Prosecute crimes impacting multiple judicial circuits, focusing on organized criminal activity.

- Cyber Fraud Enforcement Unit: Combat cybercrimes related to fraud and identity theft, working with law enforcement for investigations and prosecutions.

- Office of the Solicitor General: Handle the State's complex litigation, supervise civil and criminal appeals, and advise the Attorney General.

Education and Experience Information:
The internship program is open to students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school. It offers unpaid internships for academic credit or through participation in law school-sponsored programs. Eligible students must:

- Be enrolled in an accredited ABA law school.
- Be eligible to receive academic credit or participate in law school-sponsored programs such as Pro Bono Programs, Law School sponsored clinics, or Law School Paid Stipend programs.
- Be able to intern a minimum of 20 hours per week, or as prescribed by their college or school.
- 2nd and 3rd year law students are required to provide a writing sample at the time of the interview if selected.

Application Requirements:
Applicants must submit the following:

- Completed application for internship.
- Résumé.
- Letter from Advisor or University confirming enrollment and eligibility for academic credit or participation in a law school-sponsored program.
- Official transcript (unofficial accepted initially, but official required if chosen).
- Writing sample for 2nd and 3rd year law students at the time of interview.

Salary Information:
The internship positions are unpaid. Interns will not be compensated or eligible for any benefits, except for Worker’s Compensation benefits, with the State of Florida or the Office of the Attorney General for any work performed on a voluntary unpaid basis.

Legal Terminology and Important Information:
- Interns will not be compensated or eligible for benefits except for Worker’s Compensation.
- Background screening, including a criminal background check, will be conducted.
- Interns must report any adult criminal history information, even if records have been sealed or expunged.
- A “Yes” answer to criminal history questions will not necessarily bar applicants from internship opportunities; the nature, severity, and date of the offense will be considered.
- Interns must consent to the release of information about their ability, employment history, and fitness for employment for purposes related to internship opportunities within the Office of the Attorney General.
