Associate Counsel - Texas, REMOTE
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Counsel will be responsible for defending lawsuits filed in Texas courts and other first-party insurance defense matters. Key duties include:
- Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
- Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
- Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath.
- Defending assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing, as applicable.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor degree is required.
- Admission to the Texas Bar is required.
- Candidates must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
- The position requires 2-6+ years of experience in related field litigation, specifically in insurance/defense and/or personal injury.
- Civil litigation experience and insurance defense-related litigation experience are preferred.
- Candidates must possess strong organization, priority setting, and multi-tasking skills, and be able to follow complex instructions and resolve conflicts.
- The ability to communicate professionally in person, via tele,. This range serves as a general guideline, with the final salary determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education, training, work location, and market and business considerations.
