Job Title: AVP Legal Counsel - Litigation

Job Responsibilities:
The AVP Legal Counsel - Litigation is tasked with a comprehensive set of legal responsibilities aimed at safeguarding the interests of the company across various business units. Key responsibilities include:

- Enforcing and defending the company's interests in litigation and disputed matters, which involves selecting, assisting, and supervising outside counsel.
- Providing legal support to designated business units and managing workflow from and relationships with all levels of management within each unit.
- Keeping the legal management team informed of significant legal issues and soliciting their input as appropriate.
- Analyzing and formulating the company's position on legislation and regulations.
- Serving as a legal advisor to business units responsible for litigation, product development, claims, underwriting, sales, distribution, corporate, and marketing initiatives for all product lines offered by all domestic (.) companies.
- Incorporating and applying ERISA, federal and state tax laws and regulations, insurance laws and regulations, and employee benefit laws affecting insurance, as well as new and emerging areas of the law like e-commerce and privacy, to business plans and objectives.
- Identifying law-related training needs of company personnel and developing and delivering training through various mechanisms including written materials, classroom, and staff presentations.
- Ensuring that all business clients give appropriate attention to the Code of Conduct.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the AVP Legal Counsel - Litigation position are required to possess:

- A . (law degree) with admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a business, corporate, or other legal environment.
- Knowledge of the state and federal regulatory environment, including state filing and compliance requirements and processes.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, including the ability to build effective working relationships with key constituents across the enterprise.
- Preferred experience includes insurance product knowledge, strong leadership skills, strategic planning, project management, people and change management skills, and the ability to understand multiple technology applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Litigation experience is preferred and necessary for some positions.

Salary Information:
The base salary range for the AVP Legal Counsel - Litigation position is $133, to $274,. Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate's skill, geographical location, and experience. Additionally, the company offers a competitive and comprehensive portfolio of benefits and rewards, including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional % contribution whether the employee contributes to the plan or not.
