Job Responsibilities

- Manage a diverse docket of corporate litigation matters across the country, covering various practice areas and procedural stages, from pre-litigation threats and small claims to class certification, trials/arbitrations, and appeals.
- Take a proactive approach to all aspects of litigation, including fact investigations, revising legal briefs, responding to discovery requests, preparing witnesses for testimony, negotiating settlements, and drafting/revising settlement agreements.
- Provide succinct, practical legal advice to achieve ambitious business goals, including counseling the business on best practices and franchisee communications.
- Manage information and document retention policies and practices to comply with all applicable laws and evolving best practices.
- Handle service of process intake and issue litigation holds where appropriate.
- Assist with quarterly litigation reporting.
- Effectively communicate and manage business client expectations while planning and organizing resources to meet business demands and deadlines.
- Maintain a deep understanding of business objectives, identify important legal issues, clearly communicate risks and considerations for business input, and take a commercial approach to risk mitigation.
- Inspire confidence in business clients by consistently providing well-reasoned legal advice and practical solutions to complex issues.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and take ownership of complex projects with minimal supervision while demonstrating sound judgment and superior decision-making, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills; meet prescribed deadlines.
- Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills in support of a collaborative environment.

- Coordinate cross-functional legal input by working closely with other attorneys in the legal department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer or SVP.

Education and Experience Information

- Juris Doctor Degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience and legal expertise in assigned practice area.
- Member of at least one . state bar with the ability to qualify for California in-house registration.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Substantive experience, knowledge, and understanding of legal strategies and principles related to litigation.
- Excellent research and writing skills; ability to prepare clear, concise, and complete legal documents, reports, correspondence, and other communications materials on complex legal issues.
- Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and work with discretion.
- Ability to deal effectively with all business contacts, including government agencies, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, internal clients, and external business partners.
- Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and self-directed, able to work without direct supervision on assigned projects and tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to travel as needed.

Salary Information

- Pay Range: $100,000 - $160,000
