Title: Senior Director and Assistant General Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Director and Assistant General Counsel is tasked with assisting the Vice President and General Counsel in all assigned matters, providing general legal advice to all levels of the organization staff, and ensuring solutions are in place to mitigate risks for the organization and its related entity, Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM). The role involves leading the legal review of contracts, leases, and government grants, and regularly interfacing with senior leaders and their teams across the organization to ensure compliance with applicable laws and organization policies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and advising on all organization contracts, including vendor and service contracts, nondisclosure agreements, cause marketing agreements, sponsorship agreements, real estate leases, and other documents.
- Leading the government grant process from a legal standpoint, including reviewing federal and state grants and holding weekly meetings with the Sponsored Programs & Government Grant Strategy team.
- Reviewing real estate leases and related documents to maximize the organization’s position in lease negotiations.
- Analyzing contracts to determine data usage compliance with applicable data privacy laws and organization policies.
- Collaborating with the Internal Audit team to address risk management and compliance issues.
- Providing onboarding legal presentations to new hires regarding contract-related policies and procedures.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a law degree and be admitted to a State bar. The position requires a minimum of 7 years of general transactional law experience. Expertise is required in at least one of the following areas: government grants, leases, cause marketing/sponsorship agreements, or data privacy. Familiarity with non-profit law is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in customary office systems such as Word, Adobe, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong business and financial acumen, along with superior analytical and writing skills.
- Ability to analyze risks and provide mitigation strategies.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and handle quick turnaround deadlines.
Salary Information:
The role is graded at level 512, with a salary range between $160,000 and $210,000, as per the organization’s good faith expectation. The position is eligible for a bonus of up to 6% of the salary, dependent on individual and organizational performance. Employees working 24 hours per week or more are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, flexible accounts, disability and life insurance, tuition reimbursement, generous Paid Time Off, annual holidays, Paid Family Leave, and an annual Cultural & Heritage Day and Volunteer Day.
