Job Title: Legal Assistant / Paralegal (Criminal Defense)

Job Responsibilities:
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls and client inquiries, serving as the first point of contact for the firm and ensuring clear and professional communication.
- Schedule court dates, appointments, meetings, and deadlines to assist with the efficient management of legal processes and attorney schedules.
- Draft and file legal documents, letters, and case summaries to support the attorneys in case preparation and management.
- Organize discovery materials, police reports, and case files, maintaining both digital and physical records for easy access and reference.
- Maintain the firm calendar to ensure all deadlines and important dates are tracked and adhered to.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and other legal professionals to facilitate smooth operations and case management.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and document organization, ensuring all necessary materials are prepared and available.
- Collaborate with other legal assistants, paralegals, clerks, and staff to complete tasks and solve problems, fostering a team-oriented environment.
- Occasionally assist the firm’s owner with assignments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.

Education and Experience Information:
- Prior experience in a law office or criminal law-related position is preferred but not required, making this role accessible to candidates at various stages in their legal careers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively manage client interactions and document preparation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial for managing multiple tasks and ensuring accuracy in legal documentation.
- Comfort with handling a high volume of phone calls is important, as this role involves significant client interaction.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage shifting priorities is essential to uphold the firm’s standards and adapt to changing demands.
- Paralegal certification is helpful but not required, as this position primarily functions as a legal assistant.

Salary Information:
- The pay for this position is - per hour, based on experience.
- The role is full-time, with expected hours of 40 per week, and the schedule is Monday to Friday with no weekend work.
