Overview
- TxILC is seeking over 30 fellows to join their two-year fellowship program
- Fellows will be matched with a Project focusing on a specific area of law
- Utilize innovative strategies and technology to increase access to legal services for noncitizens
- Implement new licensed legal paraprofessional program
- Develop skills in direct representation, community lawyering, and service delivery transformation
- Cohort will gather for two major convenings to share insights and build professional relationships
- Direct engagement with community members, possible travel within Texas
Project Placements
- Check TxILC's website for current projects and updates
- Project 4: Austin, Houston, or Dallas January – September 2025 start date
- Empower noncitizen workers and day laborers to recover unpaid wages, combat employment discrimination and workplace sexual assault, and get justice for labor violations
Qualifications
- . degree by start date
- Admitted to practice in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar, or agrees to seek admission at earliest possible date
- Demonstrated commitment to increasing legal access, social justice, and economic justice
- Experience working with diverse communities preferred
- Excellent analytical, legal research, legal writing, and verbal skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and follow-through
- Flexible, creative, and passionate about collaboration and innovation
- Ability to respect and engage with diverse people, perspectives, and values
- Proficiency with technology and enthusiasm for using new digital tools in service delivery
- Fluency in Spanish or another language may be required or preferred for certain projects
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $70,000 - $80,000
