Job Title: Patent Agent
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and prosecute . and international patent applications, focusing on the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
- Conduct strategic portfolio analysis and advise clients on patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) issues.
- Draft high-quality patent applications and respond to USPTO office actions.
- Perform prior art, FTO, and patent landscape analyses to support client strategies.
- Collaborate directly with clients and inventors to ensure alignment of intellectual property (IP) strategy with business objectives.
- Coordinate with foreign counsel to facilitate global prosecution efforts.
- Stay informed about developments in patent law and emerging technologies relevant to the field.
Education and Experience Information:
- An advanced degree in chemistry or related life sciences is required, though candidates with a biology background may be considered if they possess relevant experience.
- Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
- A minimum of 3 years of patent prosecution experience in the therapeutics space is required.
- A solid understanding of patent strategy for life science companies is essential.
- Experience with portfolio management, client counseling, and FTO analysis is preferred.
- Candidates should possess exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a supportive, cross-functional team is necessary.
Salary Information:
- The position offers competitive compensation with an approximate salary range of $180,000 to $210,000+.
