Job Title: Billing Specialist

Job Responsibilities:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing all components of the billing process for assigned clients and attorneys within the law firm. Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing billing procedures for assigned attorneys and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the billing process.
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of all bills, and monitoring changes in billing procedures, policies, and attorney responsibilities.
- Ensuring that assigned attorneys have met all required monthly billing responsibilities in accordance with clearing deadlines and coordinating with attorneys to determine actions on billing components.
- Preparing bills from billing proforma, considering special billing arrangements and rates, making necessary adjustments, and sending final bills and related correspondence.
- Conducting audits on each bill to ensure accuracy.
- Preparing necessary transfers or write-offs, obtaining required approvals, and preparing Deferral Requests as needed in accordance with billing guidelines.
- Preparing Reports on Outstanding Invoices as per attorney instructions, drafting status descriptions, obtaining approvals, and submitting forms prior to clearing deadlines.
- Assisting Accounts Receivable in reviewing Statement of Accounts and providing current information for the Accounting Department's reminder notice process.
- Preparing additional billing detail, breakdowns, and analysis as requested by clients, attorneys, or Accounting personnel, and corresponding with client contacts.
- Maintaining billing records and providing follow-up assistance to attorneys, secretaries, and clients regarding billing questions or problems.
- Performing other duties as requested.

Education and Experience Information:
- High School diploma or . equivalent is required.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in billing or accounts receivable is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of personnel.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a large law firm.
- Familiarity with Elite/3E billing software.
- Proficiency in 10-key by touch.
- Experience with word processing.
- Experience working directly with clients.
