Job Title: Senior Manager, Income & Franchise Tax - Multistate

Job Responsibilities:

As a Senior Manager within the Multistate Tax Services group, you will be responsible for identifying innovative and effective tax solutions for new and existing clients in various industry sectors. You will engage directly with clients, leveraging a team of specialists and a robust support system from leadership to ensure success in your role and career. Key responsibilities include:

- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships on various state tax consulting and compliance engagements.
- Identifying client needs and leveraging the company's range of services and extensive resources to meet those needs, including cross-selling among various lines of service.
- Acting as a trusted business advisor to clients on issues including multistate tax planning, accounting for income taxes, restructuring, audit defense, and due diligence.
- Managing and overseeing complex state tax research, formulating tax-planning strategies, and conducting state tax reviews.
- Managing engagement profitability, client billings, and engagement team resources.
- Drafting and presenting business proposals to new and existing clients.
- Providing leadership, counseling, and career guidance for engagement team development and motivation.

Education and Experience Information:

Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model requiring co-location in person 2-3 days per week.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in state and local tax, specifically income and franchise tax.
- At least 4 years of recent experience managing teams, projects/engagements, and budgets.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- One of the following accreditations obtained:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Experience in growing and managing a book of business and developing a reputation as a subject matter expert within state income and franchise tax in your market.
- Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on work and client and industry/sector needs.

Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as a Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Demonstrable influencing skills and ability to foster trust across teams, service lines, and clients.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with state tax compliance, tax planning, tax analysis, and tax research.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax issues in a simplified manner, and experience creating and delivering presentations across all levels of an organization.
- Advanced knowledge of OneSource, GoSystems, or similar tax software.
- Previous consulting experience from a large accounting or law firm.

Salary Information:

The wage range for this role considers various factors including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographical differential associated with the position's location. The typical range is $134,960 to $285,740. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Additionally, candidates may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the program's rules, with awards dependent on individual and organizational performance.
