Job Title: Consultant, Real Property Tax
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team to identify tax savings opportunities for clients.
- Understand and analyze how clients compute each component of property tax.
- Conduct research on tax issues and reconcile databases.
- Complete detailed calculations for property tax assessments.
- Assist in the verification process with taxing authorities.
- Create positive team member experiences to enhance client service.
- Respond to inquiries from clients and tax authorities.
- Work effectively on a national basis with clients and taxing authorities.
- Attend client meetings and conduct property inspections.
- Review client property tax records and apply software knowledge to client data.
- Prepare and review property reports and renditions.
- Analyze assessment notices to determine potential assessment reductions.
- File appeals and determine liability for development projects.
- Address tax incentive issues for clients.
- Communicate effectively through written and verbal channels.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Business Computer Information Systems, Economics, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Public Administration, Real Estate, or related areas.
- Master’s degree in Business Discipline, JD, Business Analytics, or Operations and Supply Chain Management is preferred.
- Must have completed six hours of coursework in Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Finance with a minimum GPA of and a Major GPA of or higher.
- Relevant work experience is preferred, such as internships, summer positions, or school jobs.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with one to three years of audit or tax-related experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving skills, and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and handle ambiguity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team of professionals at all levels.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor working environment.
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at a computer.
- Regular interaction with employees at all levels of the company in person and via email and telephone.
- Regular interaction with clients and interface with external vendors in person and via email and telephone.
- Independent travel requirement: Up to 10-20%.
