Job Title: Manager of Unclaimed Property
Job Responsibilities:
The Manager of Unclaimed Property will play a critical role in managing and leading a team focused on unclaimed property matters. The primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting with project management for complex unclaimed property matters, including managing tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Analyzing and reconciling accounting records and deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Investigating transactions and their history to determine if they qualify as unclaimed property.
- Preparing calculations of unclaimed property liability and performing associated statistical sampling.
- Delegating tasks and providing effective feedback to team members to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Supporting the delivery of effective presentations to clients and adverse parties.
- Preparing professional, client-ready reports that are clear and comprehensive.
- Conducting research on company financial information and unclaimed property issues to provide accurate advice and solutions.
- Reviewing unclaimed property reports filed with states to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Applying unclaimed property law and regulations to company facts and accounting transactions.
- Investigating entity corporate structures and histories to understand and resolve unclaimed property issues.
- Drafting responses to inquiries and requests from opposing parties and other stakeholders.
- Assisting in training, mentoring, and developing team members at various levels to build a competent and efficient team.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the department's objectives.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting/audit experience, with at least 3 years specifically in unclaimed property.
- Knowledge of statistical, financial, and accounting principles, generally acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree.
- Advanced fluency in Excel, including proficiency in pivot tables, lookup functions, embedded formulas, etc.
