Senior Counsel - Biotech Patent Law

Job Responsibilities
In this critical role, the Senior Counsel for Biotech Patent Law will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing a comprehensive global intellectual property strategy to protect the company's therapeutic products and product candidates. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with company scientists to identify patentable inventions.
- Drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications globally.
- Conducting prior art searches.
- Analyzing patents and formulating freedom-to-operate opinions.
- Undertaking due diligence to support licensing activities.
- Reviewing and negotiating intellectual property provisions in research agreements.
- Identifying issues related to trademarks and copyrights.
- Providing legal advice and counsel to Research & Development and Business partners on a wide array of intellectual property-related matters.
- Assisting with litigation-related matters and defending/challenging patents in PTAB proceedings, opposition proceedings, and other forums.
- Working individually, in legal teams, and in cross-functional research and business teams across various geographies.

Education and Experience Information
Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree or Master of Laws (.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in a . jurisdiction.
- Registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office.
- A minimum of four years of experience in practicing patent or intellectual property law in the biopharma or life sciences sector.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ten or more years of experience in patent or intellectual property law within the biopharma or life sciences space, which may include . experience as a patent agent.
- Experience covering all facets of . and foreign intellectual property law relating to biotechnology, either at a law firm or within a biotechnology/pharmaceutical corporation.
- An advanced degree such as a Master's degree or . in a life science field, such as molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, or structural biology.
- Proficiency in analytic, legal drafting, and oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in patent preparation and prosecution related to nucleic acid therapeutics.
- Experience in conducting intellectual property due diligence and reviewing intellectual property provisions in collaboration and licensing agreements.
- Experience in . and/or foreign adversarial proceedings, such as patent litigation, Inter Partes Reviews, Post Grant Reviews, or oppositions.
- Strong management and leadership skills, a strong client service focus, and the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Information
The expected annual salary range for this role in the . (excluding Puerto Rico) is between $255, and $297,. The actual salary will vary based on several factors including relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
