Job Responsibilities:
The role of Senior Patent Counsel, Oncology at the company involves a range of responsibilities within the Legal & Compliance function, particularly focusing on Intellectual Property Law. The primary duties include:

- Supporting the company's Innovative Medicine sector, specifically the oncology business.
- Providing comprehensive patent support functions such as preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
- Conducting freedom-to-operate analyses and rendering legal opinions.
- Managing relationships with outside counsel and drafting and negotiating license and collaboration agreements.
- Offering due diligence support for business development transactions and providing client counseling.
- Developing and executing strategic patent strategies in a continuously evolving intellectual property environment.
- Engaging regularly with business clients to present and discuss intellectual property, partnership, and contractual matters.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates applying for the Senior Patent Counsel, Oncology position are required to meet the following educational and experience criteria:

- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a biological science is mandatory; an advanced degree or relevant industry experience is preferred.
- A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school is required.
- An active license to practice law in at least one state or the District of Columbia is necessary.
- Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or an equivalent bar is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in large molecule patent work at a law firm or within the in-house legal department of a multinational corporation is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with clients and internal partners is required.
- Capability to deliver well-organized and thoughtful presentations to upper management is necessary.
- Proven competency in pharmaceutical discovery, development, and commercialization is required.
- Working knowledge of protein, biologic, and cellular technologies is essential, along with the ability to analyze legal matters related to the research, development, and commercialization of these therapeutics.
- Substantial experience in drafting and prosecuting pharmaceutical-related patent applications is required.
- Experience in rendering patentability and non-infringement opinions is necessary.
- Experience in due diligence activities, license/agreement drafting, and negotiation is preferred.
- Willingness to accommodate occasional travel is required.
