Job Title: Senior Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects, ensuring clear communication and understanding of case requirements and objectives.
- Draft legal documents, including routine pleadings, motions, affidavits, and interrogatories, and file these documents in accordance with judicial procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Conduct research and analysis of statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources, providing written analysis to attorneys to support case strategies and legal arguments.
- Interview clients and witnesses, preparing detailed summaries of their statements to assist in case preparation and strategy development.
- Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other relevant items, ensuring that all materials are readily accessible and well-organized for legal proceedings.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings, to provide logistical and administrative support.
- Develop and maintain records regarding hours spent on specific cases to ensure accurate billing and time management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in handling various tasks and responsibilities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for drafting legal documents and interacting with clients and legal professionals.
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters to perform duties effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage and organize case files and documents efficiently.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, essential for managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess legal information and develop appropriate case strategies.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment, maintaining composure and effectiveness under pressure.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment in handling sensitive legal information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to perform various administrative and legal tasks.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients and witnesses.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field is preferred.
- A paralegal certificate is preferred, indicating formal training and education in paralegal studies.
- Must have at least 2 years of personal injury litigation experience to demonstrate familiarity with the legal processes and requirements specific to personal injury cases.
Salary Information:
- The position offers a salary range of $85,000 to $110,000 per year, with the median salary being approximately $98,000 per year. This salary range is an employer estimate and reflects the compensation for the role based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
