In this role, you will have the opportunity to deliver top-quality legal services to support the mission of a Fortune 100 insurance company, to protect people, businesses, and futures with extraordinary care.

As a Senior Trial Attorney, you will handle a mix of cases varying in complexity, severity, product lines, and specialized concentrations. You will represent clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies independently as lead counsel, as well as be part of a larger team as needed. You will be expected to maintain a highly productive case volume and demonstrate strong analytical skills and legal acumen.

This position can report out of the Elmsford, NY or Garden City, NY Trial Division and offers a hybrid work opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Independently handle cases as lead counsel or as part of a team, demonstrating efficiency, proactive case management, and work product quality according to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Trial Division (NTD) standard methodology guidelines and claims and client expectations.
• Utilize technology and work collaboratively with support staff to ensure efficient case management.
• Stay informed of changes to the law, technology, and other aspects of the legal and insurance industries that may impact liability and recovery litigation strategies in the assigned jurisdiction(s).
• Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key associates within the Office of the Chief Legal Officer, claims partners, and colleagues within the legal and insurance industries in the jurisdictions and communities where you practice.
• Provide factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations that are promptly updated and communicated to clients and claims.
• Serve as a mentor for junior attorneys and NTD staff, offering guidance and training and serving as a role model in terms of engagement, coaching and feedback, efficiency, attitude, and collaboration.

Qualifications:

• Active license in the state where the position is located.
• 8+ years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.
• Significant litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly collaborative, with the ability to work with staff and other attorneys on-site and remotely.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent analytical and legal skills.
• Resourceful and creative problem solver.
• Proficient with basic software and adaptable to changes in technology in the law and court systems.
• Strong time management and organization skills.
• Leadership skills used in direct and/or indirect influencing such as motivating, problem-solving, business strengthening and development with colleagues, clients, and claims partners.
• Knowledge and adherence to ethical rules and corporate and NTD policies and procedures.
