Associate Counsel, California (Remote)
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Counsel at the company is responsible for defending lawsuits filed in California courts and handling other first-party insurance defense cases. Key duties include:
- Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
- Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
- Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath.
- Defending cases by trial or dispositive hearing for all matters assigned, as applicable.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor degree is required.
- Admission to the California Bar is required.
- Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in California and meet mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
- 2-6+ years of experience in litigation, specifically in insurance defense or personal injury, is required.
- Preferred qualifications include civil litigation and insurance defense-related litigation experience.
- The candidate must be able to communicate professionally, both in person and via tele,. The final salary offered to the selected candidate will be based on multiple factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, work location, and market and business considerations.
