Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Attorney position involves serving in a confidential capacity within the organization, specifically assigned to the Mental Hygiene Legal Service in New York and Bronx County. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research and addressing legal questions and issues.
- Organizing complex investigations and preparing intricate cases.
- Presenting cases before administrative tribunals, trial courts, and appellate courts.
- Providing legal research and advocacy services in various units such as Mental Hygiene Legal Services, attorney disciplinary committees, and 18B panel administration.
- Possibly overseeing a departmental law guardian program.
- Assigning and supervising the preparation of cases.
- Drafting correspondence related to case inquiries.
- Interviewing litigants, witnesses, and other parties involved in administrative and judicial proceedings.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have:
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- Two (2) years of service in the Senior Attorney title or equivalent legal experience.

Salary Information:
The base salary for the Associate Attorney position is $110,853, with an additional $4,920 for location pay.
