Job Title: Assistant Appellate Court Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
Assistant Appellate Court Attorneys are responsible for researching and analyzing legal issues and questions for the court. They receive on-the-job instructions and perform other related duties under direct supervision. These attorneys work in a confidential capacity within the Appellate Divisions and the Appellate Terms of the Supreme Court. The position requires handling legal research, preparing legal documents, and assisting in the adjudication process.
Education and Experience:
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited law school with an exceptional record of academic achievement. Additionally, candidates must be admitted to the New York State Bar within eighteen months of appointment.
Salary Information:
The base salary for the position is $84,659, with an additional $4,920 as location pay.
Additional Information:
The position is classified as non-competitive, confidential, and non-renewable, with a term of two years as a fellowship. Although the position is currently available at a specific location, appointees may be subject to reassignment within the same title in the promotion unit, depending on the needs of the Unified Court System. There are currently two positions available.
