The **Members Only** (OAG) is seeking experienced civil litigators to join its Special Litigation Division (SLD) in Austin, Texas. The SLD, created in 2015, handles and coordinates high-profile, high-impact litigation for the State of Texas. Its focus is on enforcing the limits of government authority. The Assistant Attorneys General in SLD are responsible for litigating complex cases in both state and federal court, from pre-filing research to appeal. They also collaborate with other OAG divisions and advise, counsel, and assist client state agencies and OAG’s executive leadership.

The Assistant Attorney General III position requires graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (.) degree and two years of full-time experience as a licensed attorney working in litigation. They must also be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas on or before the agreed start date. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of legal principles, practices, and proceedings, as well as state and federal laws, regulations, and rules. They should also possess strong skills in legal research, writing, and analysis, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others.
The Assistant Attorney General IV position requires all of the above qualifications, plus one additional year of full-time litigation experience. The ideal candidate will also have strong skills in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines, as well as effective oral and written communication. They must also be able to work in person at the assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at the designated OAG workspace within the work location, and collaborate with coworkers in person for the entirety of the work week.
The Assistant Attorney General V position requires all of the above qualifications, plus one additional year of full-time litigation experience. The ideal candidate will also have experience with the Federal Administrative Procedure Act, analyzing issues of Federal and State Constitutional Law, and a Federal or State Court Clerkship.
